The Baltimore Chapter of the Book Bank Foundation (BBF) hosted its first annual Literacy Fair the first weekend in August. Jennifer Lewis of the NYC BBF chapter attended the event.
Jennifer reports, "The BBF provided books and back to school supplies to approximately 100 children. The director of The Living Classrooms Foundation, located at the Carmelo Anthony center along with Marika, Leon Pinkett and Aaron Pinkett (Baltimore chapter members of the BBF) did an amazing job in spreading the word about the literacy fair in addition to getting the local area residents excited about the entire event.
On site at the event was a representative form the local library that signed children and their guardian's up for library cards. A special thank you should go out to Pilot John Addison with South West Airlines. SW airlines provided snacks, beverages in addition to pizza for the children and their families. Overall the event was a success and we are looking forward to doing it again next year !"
Book Bank Foundation chapters are popping up all across the country! If you want to be a part of an organization committed to bringing about positive change to the community, please let us know. We'd be glad to work with you to get a chapter launched in your area.
